Homework for May 30 - June 3

Homework for the Week of May 31st-June 3rd       
Word Study will cover this week and next with the test on Thursday, June 9.
Read 10 minutes each night and record it on your reading calendar.
Also make sure to review the following vocab. words each night:
goes, along, idea, great, pull
Monday
No School- Memorial Day
Tuesday
LA: Write sentences using any of these words: goes, along, idea, great, pull.
Math- Write 5 addition facts and their turn-around facts in your Homework Notebook.
Wednesday
LA: Make a list of 10 “ow” words then write them in ABC order. For example: brown, gown, plow, town. 
Math- Write and draw five objects in your house that are the shape of a cylinder. 
Thursday
LA: Read a story. Write down what happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the story. 
Math- Write down the time. What time will it be in 30 minutes? What time will it be in 45 minutes? How much time is there until you go to bed?
Friday
*You will have a test on your word study words next Thursday.*
**You will have a test on this week’s vocabulary words next Wednesday.**

FIELD DAY!!!!

Field day is Friday, June 10.  Each class will wear matching t-shirts to promote team spirit.  Mrs. Jenkins has graciously planned the shirts.  We will wear neon green shirts that we will decorate on June 2 at 2:00.

Please send in $3.00 to cover the cost of your child’s shirt and the supplies to decorate them.

Animals Study Guide

SOL 1.5: Animal Needs
Science Review

·     Animals, including people, have basic life needs, including air, food, water, and a suitable place to live.

·     Body coverings include hair, fur, feathers, scales, and shells.

·     Methods of movement may include walking, crawling, flying, and swimming.

·     Simple ways to classify animals are whether they are wild or tame
·     Wild: raccoon, hawk, squirrel, shark
·     Tame: dog, cat, sheep

·     Another way to classify animals is whether they live on land or in the water
·     Land: dogs have fur and legs that help them live on land
·     Water: fish have scales and fins that help them live in the water

Monday
LA: Draw 2 pictures that show animal homes and write about the pictures using any of these words: each, once, other, under, and which.

Tuesday
LA: Add –er and –est to the following words: big, large, small, mean, nice, loud, quiet, cold, hot, fast, late, and slow.

Wednesday
LA: Read a book. Write at least 15 nouns that show a person, place, or thing (singular). Change each noun to make it show more than one (plural).

Thursday
LA: Have someone call out your word study words to you. Write each word down. Check your work and fix any mistakes.

Read 10 minutes each night and record it on your reading calendar.

Monday
LA: Your child is learning to read these words: before, cold, full, off, and would. Write questions for your child using these words. The questions can be silly or serious. Have your child write and read the answer to each question.

Tuesday
LA: Make up a story about a storm. Use as many words with the same vowel sound heard in storm as you can, such as: for, before, story, or tore. Write your story.

Wednesday
LA: Read a story with your child. Then discuss with your child what the theme of the story is. (The theme is the idea of a story, for example, honesty is the best policy.) Write the title of the book and the theme.

Thursday
LA: Have someone call out your word study words to you. Write each word down. Check your work and fix any mistakes.

Friday
